We got curious about Korean beauty products and how expensive they are. Based on our research about various beauty brands, the general price point is comparable. For example, Sephora and Ulta are two of the largest beauty retailers next to major department stores like Nordstroms, Macy’s and Bloomingdales. Drug stores like Target and Walgreens also have a vast amount of brands like Loreal, Revlon and Maybelline.

Beauty Product Prices

The prices range from cheaper American beauty brands like Sephora Collection to pricey brands like Yves Saint Laurent and Tom Ford. Those brands can cost up to $53 for their Lip Color Sheer Lipstick. Sephora Collection has comparable rates to Innesfree mascara or Peripera lipstains, between $10 to $14. Elf Cosmetics and NYX Cosmetics sell cosmetics at a lower price point, between $2-$12 depending on the product. These brands are known for their affordable makeup, but have expanded into higher quality products at slightly higher prices. Their cover up makeup is within the same price range as trusted brands like Tony Moly Luminous All Glow BB Cream at $15-$18.

High End Korean Brands

High end Korean brands like Sum:37, that retails it’s Water-Full Skin Refresher for $45+, are considered highly advanced beauty technology. Another pricey brand is called Sulwhasoo, part of the AmorePacific brand.  Prices range from $36 cleansers to $240 night creams. This is one of the oldest Korean beauty brands and is based on herbal medicine blends.  Their success stories are rooted from long kept secret recipes and advanced, first to market products.

In Conclusion

In the end, the quality of Korean beauty products are better and more advanced for the price.  Their skincare regime is just as good as most Americans practice if not better and more diverse.  This is part of their daily habits starting from a very young age. The Korean culture values the art of skincare, therefore their market requires more advanced anti-aging and moisturizing techniques to drive sales. The abundance in beauty brand and different technologies allow the market to drive the rates down in order to compete.
